If you've heard the Mental cover of "searching for the light" and nothing else then you can't claim to know anything about this band.
The Mental covers is fun, but makes it sound way too happy....the original makes it sound more like a literal "search for meaning".
This band only released one full length (The Earth is Flat) and contributed one song to the legendary Revelation comp NYCH:THE WAY IT WAS (Searchin' for the light debuted on this one)
This is some of the slowest, densest most introspective hardcore I've ever heard. It hardly seems like it belongs on the same label with all those other youth crew staples. Think the slow and somewhat tortured lyrics of Modern Life is War, Bad Religion and American Nightmare with the "sound" of Judge (later, "there will be quiet" era Judge mind you) and even surf-punk act Agent Orange.
This album is virtually impossible to find, but I managed to score a copy from my cousin (who did an internship at Jade Tree a few years back) so if anyone wants it I'd be willing to burn it for them.
It's slow and has bluesy Bad Brains-esque guitar solos, so be prepared to re-evaluate Revelation and NYHC, and to any screamo kid that's going to dismiss it as something "generic", let me exhort you to go drink some drain-o.
